Philip J. Savini, Jr. named Penn State Fayette Outstanding Alumnus
On Thursday, Oct. 24, a meeting of the Advisory Board of Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus honored the 2013 Outstanding Alumnus of Penn State Fayette, Philip J. Savini, Jr. Ph.D. This ceremony took place at the Uniontown Country Club.
A native of Republic, Pa. and son of Phil and Louise Savini, Philip J. Savini, Jr. graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with an associate degree in liberal arts and a bachelor of science in education. He received a master of arts in geography from California University and educational administrative certificates from the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia University, and California University. Savini received his doctorate of philosophy in educational administration from Kennedy Weston University.
Savini is an active member of Republic Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a member of the Republic Chamber of Commerce and past member of Fay-Penn Economic Development Council and Pennsylvania State Committee. He served on the Governor’s Committee for the Mon Valley Expressway and Educational Advisory Committee for former U.S. Congressman Frank Mascara.
In the past, Savini served on the Team Pennsylvania Advisory Board for Education and Economic Development, the Board of Directors of Penn State Fayette Alumni Society and the Penn State Fayette Advisory Board. He currently serves on the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators Legislative Committee.
Savini is a co-founder for the Republic Community Library and co-author of “Republic-Hub City,” a historical book on the village of Republic. He currently serves as superintendent of the Brownsville Area School District.
Philip J. Savini, Jr. is the husband of Joanne Savini, a Penn State graduate. They have two children, Domonique, 17, and Philip III, 15.
The Outstanding Alumnus/Alumna of Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, established in 1985, honors former students of the campus whose subsequent professional achievement warrants special recognition by their Alma Mater.
