Students recognized at showcase to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.
The public is invited to attend a special event designed to recognize the achievements of local students and celebrate the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.
A ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium in the campus’ Community Center honoring local middle school and high school students for their achievement in the following areas: academics, athletics, community service, and performing arts.
At noon, a special performance of “1,001 Black Inventions” will take place. “1,001 Black Inventions” is a play that features the lives of brilliant men and women who have made an impact on todays’ society. A typical American family attempts to survive in a world without inventions created by Africans and African Americans. This performance balances comedic moments with the realization that Black ingenuity is an integral part of our everyday lives.
