Camps for local students to take place in June and July at Penn State Fayette

This summer, high school students will have the opportunity to explore future careers and let their imaginations soar at a variety of educational and fun camps at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.

Four summer camps will be offered in June and July:

  • June 11-15—Students in grades 10 through 12 can explore advanced industry technologies in Mining Camp. Campers will learn through experiments, videos, and lectures from experts in the coal mining industry. Classes for this camp will be held off-campus at Westmoreland County Community College’s Greene County Education Center.
  • June 18-21—Students in grades nine through 12 can learn about future occupations during Health Care Career Camp. Students will learn about career options through hands-on activities, tours, and visits from guest speakers from various health care organizations. Students will also learn about first aid and become certified in CPR and AED.
  • June 25-29—The S.T.E.M Camp, intended for students in grades nine through 12, will help students understand how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts can be applied to the Marcellus Shale Industry. It will introduce students to the processes and issues involved as they relate to the economy, geology, environmental science, engineering, and math. This camp has been funded through a grant from Chevron.
  • July 23-26—High school students in grades nine through 12 can attend SAT Prep Camp to learn how to tackle the SAT exam. This camp teaches test-taking techniques to help students realize their full potential by reviewing verbal and math concepts as well as tips on tackling the essay portion of the test.
