“Think Globally, Eat Locally”

2/6/2009 —
A special presentation, “Think Globally, Eat Locally,” given by local organic farmer Paul Sarver, will take place Feb. 16 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. The event—free and open to the public—begins at noon in Swimmer Hall in the Williams Building.

At the presentation, Sarver will talk about the concept of sustainability and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), which unites a local community with local growers. Benefits include accessibility to fresh organic produce and an increased awareness of local families to the dynamics associated with farming and food production.

The Sarver family’s Sarver’s Hill Farm is a staple of Westmoreland County, and has been in operation since the late 1700s. Production is focused on organic vegetables, as well as fruits and berries.

“Think Globally, Eat Locally” is being hosted by Penn State Fayette’s Diversity Task Force to increase awareness about international and environmental issues.
