Reception held for University Commons students
More than two-dozen student residents of the University Commons met with Penn State Fayette Chancellor Dr. Emmanuel I. Osagie for a reception at the University House the evening of December 9. The pre-holiday gathering was an opportunity for the students to meet and talk with the chancellor, and learn about new happenings on campus focused on making their experience as non-commuters the best it can be.
Something new to be implemented beginning January 12 is Penn State Fayette shuttle service to and from the campus and University Commons. Director of Enrollment and Student Services Brian Fernandes announced that the shuttle will transport students from University Commons to the campus at 7:45 a.m.; there will be round-trip service at noon and 4:45 p.m.; and a final trip from campus to University Commons at 9:00 p.m.
Dr. Osagie, pleased with the interaction at the event, says, “It is important that we continue our conversations on a regular basis. Our University Commons students are especially valuable to our campus community because they bring ideas and experiences from distant locations—some from within Pennsylvania, some from other states. I want to have similar get-togethers at least once per semester to keep our dialog going.”
