“CEO Conversations” to feature Laura Deklewa on Nov. 13

The final event in the fall 2008 CEO Conversations series at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus features Laura Deklewa, owner and president of Allegheny Construction Group. This free event open to the public will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, from noon-1 p.m. in the Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium in the Fayette campus’ Community Center.

Deklewa, owner and president of Allegheny Construction Group, spent 20 years in the construction industry before purchasing Allegheny Construction Group in 1998. While construction companies are traditionally led by men, Deklewa is anything but traditional. Allegheny Construction Group is ranked among the top 10 largest woman-owned businesses in Western Pennsylvania. She has been acknowledged by the Pittsburgh Business Times as the Industry Leading Profile in the area of Real Estate, Construction and Development in 2002. In the 2007 Pittsburgh’s Top 100 fastest-growing companies, sponsored by Pittsburgh Business Times, Allegheny Construction Group ranked number seven. Deklewa also has been honored among her peers and distinguished by the Master Builders Association of Western Pennsylvania, receiving the Building Excellence Award for Excellence in Craftsmanship. She holds a bachelor’s of science degree in economics and business administration, and completed the Entrepreneurial Management Program at Carnegie Mellon University Graduate School of Industrial Administration
CEO Conversations is designed to give students the opportunity to hear from and talk with key individuals in the local, regional and national business communities about business, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

CEO Conversations, an initiative of Penn State Fayette Chancellor Dr. Emmanuel Osagie, debuted in fall 2007 with local businessman, philanthropist, and former Fayette County Commissioner Joseph A. Hardy III as the guest speaker. Guest speakers featured in the 2008 spring series included Attorney General Tom Corbett and Fayette County District Attorney Nancy Vernon; Sheetz Inc. Chairman Stephen Sheetz; and American Eagle Outfitters CEO James O’Donnell. Other guests in the fall 2008 series were Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO Edward Stack and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl.
