Brian Fernandes named director of Student and Enrollment Services
Fernandes has a broad background in student affairs, admissions, financial aid, and placement. He holds a master of education degree in math and computer science, and a bachelor’s of arts degree in communication studies, both from California University of Pennsylvania.
“I am looking forward to helping Penn State Fayette attract and retain top students through the cooperative efforts of the entire campus community. I will bring a hands-on, positive, student-first approach to every aspect of my job, and I plan to work together with all areas of the university to create an environment where students can not only succeed but prosper,” Fernandes says.
Penn State Chancellor Emmanuel Osagie welcomes Fernandes, saying, “Brian brings a lot of energy to this role, and his student-first approach meshes with Penn State Fayette’s student-centered focus. His related responsibilities at various regional educational institutions give him a pool of knowledge and expertise to draw on as he tackles the challenges and opportunities unique to a world-class university. ”
Fernandes comes to Penn State Fayette from Bethany College in W. Va., where he held a number of posts, most recently as associate dean of students. He also was director of summer camps and conferences, director of Greek life, and director of student activities and campus programs. Prior to Bethany, he held a variety of positions at Harrison Career Institute, the Bradford School and California University of Pennsylvania.
