Summer programs for students offer fun and learning

Fun and learning are combined to offer area youth a variety of activities to explore and expand their horizons this summer. More than 60 courses and workshops for students are being offered at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus from June through August.

For high school students: Film Camp introduces participants to acting, directing and screenwriting. Mining Camp gives students a look into the mysterious world of coal mining. High school students considering higher education can learn what’s involved in gaining admission to college at Countdown to College. Students can also learn about Writing Short Stories and Getting Published, and drawing Human and Animal Caricatures and Cartooning.

Kids in College is designed for students ages 5-17 and features more than 60 different courses to choose from. For example: Arts and Crafts classes range from cooking to photography to sewing; Sports and Fitness classes include cheerleading, tennis, soccer, yoga and more; Liberal Arts and History courses include the American Girl books, creative writing, sign language, Spanish and more; and Math and Science classes range from Backyard Nature to Crime Scene Investigation to Edible Math.
