“CEO Conversations” spring series opens Feb. 14 with double feature

Two guest speakers—Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett and Fayette County District Attorney Nancy Vernon—a will open the Spring 2008 “CEO Conversations” series at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus on February 14.

CEO Conversations is designed to bring the business community onto campus to give students the opportunity to hear from and talk with key individuals in the local, regional and national business world about business, entrepreneurship, and leadership. The free series is open to the public.

In 2004, Tom Corbett was elected to serve as Pennsylvania’s chief law enforcement officer, the Attorney General. Corbett began his career as an assistant district attorney in Allegheny County. He also served as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania and once before as attorney general. Throughout the years, Corbett has been an advisor to U.S. presidents and governors. He has also worked in the private sector, formed his own law firm, and served our country in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

Nancy Vernon, an active trial lawyer for nearly 30 years, was elected Fayette County’s district attorney in 1999. She is now serving her third term as Fayette County’s chief prosecutor. Vernon, a Uniontown native, earned her Juris Doctorate in Law from Duquesne University and has grown her legal career in southwestern Pennsylvania.

CEO Conversations, an initiative of Penn State Fayette Chancellor Dr. Emmanuel Osagie, debuted in fall 2007 with local businessman, philanthropist, and former Fayette County Commissioner Joseph A. Hardy III as the guest speaker.
