This Pennsylvania Historical Marker, dedicated March 15, 2007, celebrates and commemorates the historical significance of the Connellsville Coke Region. It stands along U.S. Route 119 near the entrance to the Penn State Fayette Campus, in North Union Township between Uniontown and Connellsville, once known as the heart of the Connellsville Coke Region.
The Coal and Coke Heritage Center is located on the grounds of Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. We are open to the public Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; other times by appointment. The center is housed on the lower level of the campus Library and is handicapped accessible. Parking is available within easy walking distance. We gladly offer tours for groups of any age, including educational programs for schools and community groups. There is no charge for admission.
