Areas of Expertise/Research Interests: Emergency nursing
What do you like most about teaching at Penn State Fayette? Seeing students grow and mature in nursing. It is a powerful feeling to see a student give excellent nursing care.
What is your favorite class to teach, and why? Orthopedic nursing—because I did it for two years and enjoyed seeing patients progress and resume functional lives because of the team effort of the nurses.
What is your favorite class project, and why? Clickers in the class and labs. The students see what they need to concentrate on, I see what I need to clarify or reinforce, and the results are immediate. No one has to be embarrassed to answer a question because all the answers are anonymous.
What kinds of unique opportunities are available to students in your classes or department? The chance to experience the different types of nursing that will be available to them upon graduation.
What is your favorite quote? "Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and attended to with diligence."—Abigail Adams
