Dr. Jo Ann JankoskiAreas of expertise/Research interests: My areas of research include social justice issues, diversity, poverty, vicarious trauma, and STEM-related careers for women.

What do you like most about teaching at Penn State Fayette? DEFINITELY, our students! I love to be challenged by them, I enjoy the collaborative environment we create, and I enjoy my own growth when being with them. I teach from my heart. I truly enjoy working with students who wish to learn on this journey of learning and teaching about life! There is more to teaching than just preparing a young professional for her/his chosen career; we also have the responsibility of mentoring each student.

What do you like the most about Penn State students? They are so passionate about what they believe; they are so eager to learn, question, and grow. Our students want to see change in our county, country, and the world. They want to be agents of that change. Our students are the leaders of tomorrow; they will accomplish many great things during their lives.

What kind of unique opportunities are available to students in your classes or department? Not all programs involve service learning; our program does. Our students have the opportunity to learn about different careers while giving back to the community that they serve.

What is your favorite quote?
“Never doubt that a thoughtful group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”—Margaret Mead
