Earn an Associate, Bachelor of Science, or Master of Science Degree in Nursing

Nursing provides the opportunity to help people of all ages - physically, mentally, and socially. The School of Nursing at Penn State Fayette offers degree options for those seeking eligibility for registered nurse licensure as well as for registered nurses pursuing the baccalaureate degree through advanced standing. The program is structured to permit you to pursue a degree in nursing with convenience in your home area. At Fayette campus, the nursing programs are housed in the brand new, state-of-the-art Biomedical Technology Building. Major shortages in nursing are predicted over the next ten years. Job opportunities are plentiful and increasing at a rapid rate!

Associate Degree in Nursing

Upon completion of the associate degree in nursing at Penn State Fayette, you are eligible for the Registered Nurse Licensure Examination, required for registered nurse status as well as for a variety of acute and long-term care careers. Licensed Practical nurses can test out of the first year of nursing courses, which provides the opportunity to graduate with the associate degree program will transfer to the baccalaureate degree program.

A Penn State associate degree graduate with RN licensure can seek employment in many different specialty areas - maternity and newborn; pediatrics; mental health; acute or chronic medical and surgical rehabilitation; long-term care.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The registered nurse with a bachelor of science degree can specialize in an area of interest. You could become a public health or visiting nurse, a researcher or a consultant, a teacher, a head nurse or a director of nursing. You will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals, families, groups and communities. Students work collaboratively with faculty in designing experiences in the clinical setting that meet their individual needs. The bachelor of science degree in nursing provides eligibility to become a nurse practitioner, a program of study also available at Penn State Fayette through distance learning.

Master of Science in Nursing

The Family Nurse Practitioner Program offers a master's degree for registered nurses wanting an expanded role in the nursing field. The program combines advanced knowledge and research in nursing with knowledge from the sciences, medicine, and related disciplines.
