Osagie named chancellor of Penn State Fayette Chancellor
“Dr. Osagie’s impressive background in public higher education, including 10 years as a senior administrator, expertise in economic development and innovative efforts as dean of a business school, demonstrate a well-rounded perspective ideal for a chancellorship at Penn State. We are quite pleased to welcome his leadership at Penn State Fayette,” said John Romano, Penn State vice president for Commonwealth Campuses. Emmanuel I. Osagie began his career as a science teacher in Nigeria in the early-1970s. After completing a Ph.D. in agricultural economics/economics/econometrics at Louisiana State University, he taught at Southern University, a land-grant institution in Baton Rouge, La., for more than 15 years, as a professor of economics. He also founded its Center for Economic Development before serving as the university’s associate vice chancellor for the Office of Research and Strategic Initiatives. In 2001 Osagie was named vice provost for research and faculty development at The College of New Jersey, and also served as dean of its School of Business. In this current position, he provided leadership in the development of the business school’s strategic plan, initiated a deans’ business executive advisory board, introduced a Business Scholars program for outstanding students, and worked on establishing international relationships with institutions on four continents.
